Woll Cookware – Is This German Manufacturer’s High-End Diamond Plus Line the Right Choice for You?

Why Woll Cookware? In a nushell, it's non-stick, versatile and extremely durable.

And did you know that diamonds conduct heat four times better than copper?

The above are the most common advantages of Woll cookware you’ll come across when you start reading about their products.

And it’s no surprise the company wants to paint their products in the best possible light. The cookware market is crowded. Manufacturers try their best to grab their audience's attention and provide them with a product that meets all their needs. Fierce competition forces them to come up with an ever-better technology if they want to stand out.

Woll Cookware Review

In this Woll cookware review, I’ll try to find if their products and technology are as good as this Germany-based cookware manufacturer claims them to be. And, most importantly, considering their steep pricing point, whether the cookware is worth the extra $$ that you’ll need to spend on it.

Is Woll Cookware Safe?

Let’s start with one of the top three reasons why people choose high-end cookware in the first place – safety. Customers are becoming ever more concerned about their food safety.

Many of them don’t look just at the food itself, but also pay attention to the cookware that they use to prepare it.

It's no surprise then that Woll boasts that their Diamond Plus cookware is PFOA-free (a chemical that was used to produce Teflon). If you search online, you'll find some concerns regarding whether it is PTFE free (as the information is nowhere to be found on the website). However, what all those who mention it miss is the fact that PTFE is, basically, Teflon. Which is the very thing that is responsible for the cookware’s amazing non-stickiness.

What’s important to emphasize here is that, unlike PFOA, PTFE is not considered to be toxic. However, you should still pay attention to the way in which you prepare your food. For example, don’t overheat your Teflon and don’t scratch it too hard. When damaged, it's tiny particles may get into your food - and that's when it can become toxic.

The good news is, high-end manufacturers like Woll boost their cookware durability to prevent that from happening. In fact, the surface of Woll’s cookware is so durable you can even use metal utensils on it!

And, for those interested in seeing any formal proofs of its safety - its non-stick coating conforms to the recommendations of the German health ministry. On top of that, they test their cookware quite extensively (these tests focus on more than just the coating.

For example, they check their handles to see if they are well fit). All products are also TÜV and TÜV GS certified (which means if they meet the requirements of the German Equipment and Product Safety Act).

Is Woll Cookware Dishwasher Safe?

Woll Cookware Clean

Yes, all Woll cookware is dishwasher safe. But, considering its non-stick surface, the pans are so easy to clean (see the next paragraph), that you can clean them yourself easily. Plus, doing so extends the life of the non-stick surface.

Sadly, dishwasher detergents are usually too strong and could have a negative impact on the said surface in the long run. But, should you decide to put it in a dishwasher anyway, you will be pleasantly surprised by the cookware’s detachable handles.

How to Clean Woll Cookware?

The best way to clean the cookware is to do that warm, soapy water. Unless it’s very dirty – you can actually clean it with just the water.

While, as you might expect from German cookware, it’s really durable, the fewer chemicals you use, the longer it will last.

There’s no need to soak it after cooking. The great thing about this set is that its interior is smooth (the handles are not riveted), so there’s no need to worry about food particles getting stuck.

One other thing that can extend the longevity of your cookware’s non-stick surface is the oil that you use. It is very important that you do not let the oil burn in the pan. All oils have different smoke points – generally, the higher the point, the better. The best oils to use with Woll cookware are avocado, coconut, and rice bran oil. While popular, try to avoid olive oil, which is not the best choice for cooking due to its low smoking point.

Woll vs Scanpan - The Made in Germany Cookware Vs Its Danish Competitor

One of the biggest Woll’s competitors and one of the major players in the high-end cookware world is Scanpan. Probably the most important thing that the two have in common is that they both manufacture their cookware in Europe.

This is a huge difference compared to most companies that outsource their manufacturing to China to keep their costs down.

Obviously, both companies offer cookware that is scratch resistant (even when using metal utensils). It also offers even heat distribution and high-temperature durability (although, there's a catch - as the non-stick surface itself, does not react well to high temperatures). All that allows for easy searing, deglazing, and browning.

Scanpan Cookware

Similarly, both companies boast a lot about the safety of their cookware. However, it is important to remember that their flagship cookware lines are not PTFE-free (Teflon). Which is safe unless it’s damaged or overheated.

The difference is in the material used for the body of the cookware. The Woll Diamond Plus is made of cast aluminum with a stainless steel or bakelite handle.

HaptiQ (the high-end line of non-stick Scanpan cookware) is made of stainless steel. This also means that Scanpan’s cookware exterior will turn brown as the oil coats the surface and starts seasoning.

One big advantage of Woll Diamond Lite over its Danish competitor is the handles. Unlike in the HaptiQ line where the handles are riveted, Woll’s handles are removable. This makes the use, cleaning and storing of their cookware a lot more convenient.

There are also some differences in the guarantee offered by both brands. The critical one is the warranty duration. Woll offers a 25-year warranty on the body of the cookware and a three-year warranty on the coating or technical parts.

Scanpan guarantees the product stays free from material and manufacturing defects for the lifetime of use. However, this is valid only for the original purchaser. At the same time, both Scanpan’s and Woll’s warranty terms come with a number of exclusions. For example, both companies do not cover damage caused by overheating.

I’ll discuss this a bit more when reviewing the product themselves. An important note to keep in mind here – all warranty information you'll find in this article is based on warranty terms for the American market.

Woll Diamond Plus Line

Currently, Woll's most renowned cookware line is the cast-aluminum Diamond Plus. It offers its users exactly what the company's target group is looking for: high-end cookware that looks great, is durable, and easy to clean.

They want to cook their favorite meals fast, without losing any of their great taste. In the review, I included both their flagship 10-piece diamond cookware set, as well as three different pans that can be bought separately:

Woll Diamond Plus/Diamond Lite 10-Piece Cookware Set

This 10-piece cookware set consists of two fry pans: a 9.5” one and an 8” one; two saucepans: a 7”, 2.1Qt saucepan (with a lid) and an 8”, 2.1Qt one (also with a lid); an 11”, 6.3Qt stockpot (also with a lid), and an 11”, 3.7Qt sauté pan.

While this choice alone gives you lots of freedom when it comes to cooking your favorite meals, it’s the quality of each of its elements that can completely revolutionize cooking as you know it.

Revolutionize your cooking experience

Think about it – how would your cooking change if you could prepare your favorite meals using arguably the best non-stick cookware set?

With so many pieces to choose from and its amazing heat-conducting capabilities, this Woll Diamond Plus cookware set allows you to cook almost anything you can think of… with no mess to clean up afterward (and if you go really crazy in the kitchen – at least the clean-up of your cookware will be quick 😊)!

Woll cookware cooking experience

What I like about this Woll Cookware set?

  • A huge variety of meals you can prepare. From beautiful, brown omelets to tasty cream soups and juicy meats. The only limit? Your imagination.
  • Superior heat distribution. Thanks to it, your meals cook much faster even on lower heat. This equals less time spent in the kitchen and decreased electricity/gas bills. Its heat distribution works great even in the oven (the set is ovenproof up to 480f/250C).
  • Easy cleaning = even more time-savings. I already mentioned this above but there’s a lot more to easy clean-up than just the non-stick surface. Thanks to the unique way of attaching handles, there’s no risk of food getting stuck near the fasteners (as is the case with many other pans).

What I don’t like about it?

  • It’s expensive. Unfortunately, as you might expect from a high-end cookware manufacturer, the price tag is really high. While I believe the quality of this cookware set is worth the money, unless you cook a lot and can benefit from everything that Woll cookware has to offer, I would look at more affordable cookware sets.
  • Can’t really be put on high heat. If you don’t want it to lose its non-stick capabilities, don’t put any of this set’s elements on high heat. The good news is, even when cooking at lower temperatures, thanks to its amazing heat conduction, you won’t have to wait for your favorite meals for too long.

While the set is not cheap, if you know you’ll be cooking a lot - treat it as an investment.

Regardless of your cooking skill – getting it is guaranteed to take your cooking game to new heights. You can learn more about the set, and see why others love it too here.

Woll Diamond Lite Diamond Reinforced Non-stick, Anti-Corrosion, Cut-Resistant, Light Weight Sauté Pan with Clear Lid 2.6 quart/9.5' diameter, Made in Germany

Whether you are simmering, braising, or even deep-frying – you deserve to cook using the “tools” that will make the final result tasty and the cooking process itself – as convenient as possible. Here’s why, despite some minor drawbacks, this induction ready Woll sauté pan could become your next favorite pan.

Simply put, food tastes better.

When using this sauté pan (or, in fact, anything from the Woll cookware Diamond Plus line), you should remember not to put it on high heat.

On top of preventing the non-stick coating, this has one big advantage – your meals will taste better.

Why?

woll cookware heat distribution

Because you don’t have to cook on high heat, you don’t risk burning the spices. The pans’ amazing heat distribution, together with its non-stick capabilities helps prevent the spices from sticking to the bottom. Instead, they stay with the food, making it taste even better. Not to mention how much easier cooking itself becomes.

What I like about this Woll Sauté Pan?

  • Amazing heat distribution. Which is essential especially for a sauté pan. At least if you want to get the most out of your time invested into cooking.
  • No sticky mess. Cooking, especially braising, can leave a sticky mess that’s hard to clean. Thankfully, there’s very little clean up needed for this pan.

What I don’t like about it?

  • There’s a limit to what you can cook. Luckily, it’s a small one. If you want to ensure its non-stick capabilities last for as long as possible, it’s recommended that you don’t boil food that contains starch in it. This includes potatoes, pasta and soy sauce. Naturally, it’s not like cooking them once will ruin the coating – so unless you plan on boiling this on a daily basis, you should be fine.
  • It’s quite heavy. It doesn’t get close to cast iron, but it’s heavier than the usual pan.

While there are certain things you need to keep in mind when cooking with this sauté pan, if you value your time spent in the kitchen, and want to see how food can taste when the spices actually stick to it – you need to give this pan a try.

You can find more info about it, as well as opinions from its users, on its product page here.

And what if you fancy a lasagna? In this case, you can’t miss this 9.5”, 4.25-Quart Woll cookware casserole pan.

This pan will make you appreciate Woll’s heat conductivity

Considering the meals that we usually prepare in a casserole pan, heat distribution, as well as retention, can have a huge impact on the final result of your cooking efforts.

The good news is – that’s not something that you have to worry about with this casserole pan.

Woll Diamond Casserole Pan

What I like about this Woll Casserole Pan?

  • Top-notch heat retention. As mentioned above – this is the case for all cookware from the Woll cookware Diamond Plus line. But it’s even more important for a casserole pan.
  • Easy clean-up. Just as it is with the sauté pan – cleaning the pan after a lasagna has never been easier.
  • Detachable handles. You don’t have to choose between handles that easily heat up and those that are oven-safe anymore. Thanks to its detachable handles, you can easily turn it into an oven-safe casserole dish. Not to mention how much easier it is to store it!

What I don’t like about it?

  • You need to be careful. Non-stick capabilities don’t last forever on this pan. You need to be careful how you use it if you want to ensure that it lasts you for a long time – especially considering its price tag.
  • Poor performance on an induction cooktop. While I haven’t experienced this myself – some of its users have pointed it out and I decided to add it to my review.

If you are looking for a casserole pan that’s both convenient and oven-safe – you can’t go wrong with Woll’s casserole pan.

Woll Diamond Lite Diamond Induction Reinforced Non-stick, Anti-Corrosion, Cut-Resistant, Light Weight, Induction Ready, Fry Pan 9.5-Inch, Made in Germany

Eggs? Bacon? Pancakes? Or maybe your unique, favorite recipe? Whatever you think of preparing this 9.5” pan with the ultra-hard coating will allow you to prepare it faster and will a lot less hassle – here’s why!

Feels like cast iron without the drawbacks

If you’ve ever cooked on a cast iron fry pan, you know how great they can be at frying. That’s exactly what you get with this Woll cookware fry pan. The only difference?

Unlike a cast iron pan, you don’t have to spend time trying to season it. Plus, German technology allowed to make it a lot lighter than cast iron, which makes maneuvering it in the kitchen much easier (and safer too, considering all the hot food that’s usually in the pan).

Woll Induction Ready Fry Pan

What I like about this Woll Fry Pan?

  • No cold spots. The pan heats up evenly. The heat distribution is on a truly professional level, which means you can experiment with cooking and try to prepare even the most demanding meals.
  • Amazing durability. On top of being highly scratch-resistant, this Woll Diamond Plus pan boasts long-lasting non-stick capabilities. According to many of its users, as long as you stick to the usage recommendations – you should see no degradation in its non-stick capabilities for a long time.

What I don’t like about it?

  • Temperature limit. Of course, it’s not like the pan is going to melt if you put it on high heat. The material itself won’t be affected either (it’s actually highly resistant). Unfortunately, high heat has a negative impact on the pan’s non-stick capabilities. And, as you know, the inability to use very high temperature may limit what you can fry with it. The good news is – great heat distribution seems to counter this for the most part.
  • Tricky warranty. The above is also related to the cookware’s tricky warranty. Simply speaking the warranty becomes void if you use this German cookware on too high temperatures and overheat it.

Despite the heat limitation, I still believe the pan is a great choice for someone who knows how to take advantage of its top-of-the-range heat distribution capabilities. Not to mention the ease of cleaning after the meal is actually done.

Woll Diamond Plus – Is It the Right Choice for Me?

Considering all the great benefits and a couple of drawbacks, I honestly believe it’s one of the best cookware lines you can get for your kitchen. Plus, the fact that it’s manufactured in Germany means it’s manufacturing is much more regulated health-wise.

Still, I want you to think about why you’re buying it, before you pull the trigger.

If your number one concern is your health, you will be better off with high-quality ceramic cookware. While Woll cookware is 100% safe when used properly, ceramic offers more health benefits than even the best PTFE cookware lines ever will.

However, if you value quality, modern design, convenience (non-stick!), durability, and won’t overheat the pans – you can’t go wrong with Woll Cookware.

In my opinion, Woll Diamond Plus is the best-looking, and most convenient cookware set in its price range. It is also extremely durable, and the diamond technology significantly increases both its durability and safety. You can get the 10-piece set straight from Amazon by clicking here.

Alternatively, go back to the table above and pick one of the amazing Woll pans.
